My name is Andrew Furtado. No relation to Nelly. At least I don't think so. But wouldn't that be neat? I was born and raised in a small town in Connecticut, where a good portion of that time was spent on a farm. I have a love for adorable farm animals, but it's not really my bag, baby. My stepfather would always tell me that he was preparing me for the future so I could become a "real farmer" just like him. My eight year old self would reply, "Ugh, no. I'm moving to the city to become a hair dresser!" And yes, picture me saying this with some sass and my hand on my hip and you would be pretty accurate.
After my mom and he split, I moved to Maine. Not by choice. My mom always wanted to live there. And since I wasn't of legal age yet, I had to go along. Don't get me wrong, Maine is beautiful, but not what I had in mind. Moved out at 18 and lived with a friend in South Jersey for a few months until I got a place in Philly, where I lived for two years. Moved to Brooklyn, NY to live with my boyfriend, at the time (big mistake, he didn't have a job), in March of 2010. Once all of my money dried up and his crazy became too much, I ended it and moved to Florida for a hot minute to live with family and save some money. A month later it was back to New York City!

I have been doing the typical NYC gypsy thing, moving from place to place. In two years, I have moved to 5 different apartments in Brooklyn, and have had 6 different jobs. But I'm finally at a place where I feel things are starting to settle down. I live in Bushwick, Brooklyn with two awesome girls. I am working at Arrojo Studio in SoHo for Nick Arrojo. You may have seen him on TLC's "What Not To Wear" (Seasons 1-7) doing the hair portion of the makeovers. I'm currently starting at the bottom of the chain as a Client Coordinator, but working my way up! I'll be attending the Arrojo Academy in 2013 to get my license to do hair at the studio!
So, with everything sort of falling into place, I've had time to really focus on myself and my life in the city. And since I've moved in with these girls, I have been having a killer time! We are creative, young and full of spunk. So why not have a blog to rant, rave and share? I mean, everyone else has one. It's about time I get on trend, right? So subscribe! Tell your friends! And enjoy creeping into my life!
