As you know, it was Fashion
Week here in NYC a couple weeks back. One of my favorite nights of the year
here in the city is FNO (Fashion's Night Out) and it was the fourth year doing
this. Last year I did the Midtown thing and went to Barney's, Bloomingdales,
Saks, Coach, etc. Met a few celebs, has some drinks. It's a good time. So this
year, since I had to work until 7:30, I decided to stay local in SoHo. Arrojo Studio was hosting a party for fashion designer Alisha Trimble, so I had a
drink at work and mingled a bit then headed over to Bloomingdales SoHo, where
Dangerous Muse did a little performance.
Met Mike Furey after he wrapped the
performance and chatted for a bit. Aphrodite, a new makeup artist at the
Studio, was my date. She had never been to FNO before, so despite it being a
pretty low-key evening, we had a blast! What a doll.
This weekend was pretty fun as well. I went
out with an old friend from when I worked at Saks. We went to XL Nightclub had a few drinks, danced and let our hair down.
When all of a sudden
I hear a familiar voice behind me. It was Amanda Lepore! For those of you who
don’t know who she is, Amanda Lepore is an American model, nightlife and fashion
icon, performance artist, recording artist and transgender public figure. She
has appeared in advertising for numerous companies, including M.A.C. Cosmetics, The Blonds, Swatch, CAMP Cosmetics, and Heatherette, which has used
her likeness on clothing as well as hiring her as a model. Lepore is also noted
as a regular subject in photographer David LaChapelle's work, serving as his
muse, as well as many other photographers including Terry Richardson. She
participated in his Artists and Prostitutes 1985-2005 exhibit in New York,
where she "lived" in a voyeuristic life-sized set. Amanda Lepore has
also released several singles, many written by and/or recorded with Cazwell.
All-in-all I must say, this has been a pretty fun and eventful Summer. Definitely one of the best I've had in a while. But I'm incredibly excited that it's Autumn! Scarves, boots, and boys! Some of my favorite accessories I'll be sporting this season! What's your favorite accessory in the Fall? Let me know!
